Catalog note / 解説
"Shinjuku Gyoen". It used to be the private mansion belonging to Lord Naito, a "daimyo" (feudal lord) of the Edo era. The site was transformed as the imperial garden in 1906. After World War II, it was designated as a national garden and opened to the public. The mass of rich dark colors in the design expressed skillfully the quiet, spacious oasis in crowded Tokyo.
