Catalog note / 解説
"Shinjuku Gyoen". It used to be the private mansion belonging to Lord Naito, a "daimyo" (feudal lord) of the Edo era. The site was transformed as the imperial garden in 1906. After World War II, it was designated as a national garden and opened to the public. The yellow sky and the reflecting pond add a touch of quiet atmosphere to this oasis in the busy megalopolis, Tokyo. This design is in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo.
