The title “Night Rain on the Emon Embankment ” appears in a cartouche in the form of a folded love letter. This print shows travelers during an evening shower. The poem describes a man going to meet his lover in the rain. The umbrella of a figure to the far right bears the characters “Edo-chö Ötsuya” (Ötsuya of Edo Street), which may be the publisher's name. (from Original Intent exhibition 11/21/06-)
