Catalog note / 解説

This is an original limited edition sosaku hanga modern Japanese woodblock print by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) titled "Biyakugo-ji Nara (A)", signed in pencil by the artist, dated 1955, and edition is 55/200. A classic Saito landscape. Saito used three different shades of grey mica on this print. The print is in fine condition. Excellent impression, strong color, and bleedthrough. No foxing, toning, folds or creases. The print is not setdown. The print has full margins with deckled edges. The "self-carved self-printed" tissue is still affixed to the verso of the print. Image size is 15" x 21", paper size is 18" x 23.5".
