"Candle Light" - An original pencil signed color woodblock print by Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano (1916-1955) depicting a young girl holding a candle. It measures 16 3/4" x 11" (sheet) / 15" x 9.25" (plate) The work is executed on Japanese kozo paper with characteristic top and bottom deckled edges. It is signed in English within the image at the lower left and there is an adjacent "Kaoru" Japanese stamp. The title and inscribed number "15 Candle light" appears in pencil on the back lower edge. It is unmatted and unframed. No Kawano seal on back! Good unretouched original estate condition, very good, bold colors against a moderately lightstruck outline from a previous mat just outside image…
