Sanjo Bridge, Kyoto, 1920 (fine 1970’s woodblock reprint) Hashigushi Goyo (1880 - 1921) Sanjo Bridge, Kyoto- Our view is across the Kano river with the great Sanjo bridge in the middle. Light snow is falling and covers the hilly, mountainous range that borders Kyoto. Goyo’s simple color palette is the perfect design choice for this image. In many ways, this scene, one of the most famous in Japan, still looks much the same today. The soft colors, heavy paper and careful attention to detail reflect the quality of this print.
