Catalog note / 解説

"Zoku Showa Shokugyo E-zukushi" (Continuing Sketches of Occupations in Showa Era) Professional golfers. Golf became one of the most beloved sports in Japan second to baseball. The first of this large series was published by Nishinomiya Shoin in 1938 - 1943. It was very popular and even featured on the Asahi Newspapers everytime the new design was published. The series was interrupted by W.W. II. After the war, Kyoto Hanga-in made the continuation of the series as limited editions. The series is an interesting document of the new as well as the old, dying occupations in Japan in early to mid 20th Century.
