Catalog note / 解説
This, Cherry Blossoms at Ueno and Moon over Shinobazu form a "setsu gekka" set of 3 designs - "Snow, Moon and Flowers" popular since antiquity and especially so in Ukiyo-e woodblock prints of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Asakusa is in the snow and is one of the most famous temples of the "Shitamachi" or downtown area of modern Tokyo. (description by the artist, Paul Binnie).
