Catalog note / 解説
"The Bell at Hachiman". Kiyokata studied Utamaro bijin-ga intensly. The lines, shape of the head and the coiffure show the strong influence of the Edo master. But the naturalistic depiction of the dancing leaves and flattering garments in the wind are clearly the new Meiji style.
