Catalog note / 解説
"Hanga Yoku-sen Fu" (Hot Spring Notes) First set of the album series published by Aoi Shobo. 20 sosaku-hanga style prints (size: 215 x 215 mm) and short notes in Japanese for the 20 famous hot spring resorts such as Nikko, Izu, Tohi and Beppu. The frontispiece was designed by Senpan, also. The series was continued for 5 sets, 20 prints each, during 1941-1959. The most of designs were made before or during the W.W.II but could not be published until later. Some pictures were rather gloomy reflecting the inpending war, but most of them were warm and friendly depictions of people's activities in the relaxed country resorts.
