Catalog note / 解説

"Toto Meisho; Shinobazu". Yokohama-e of an American holding a pencil and a drawing. A telescope lies besides him. He might be the unnamed American who designed the horse race track at Shinobazu pond. By the middle of 19th century, Yokohama became the major port for overseas trading in Japan.
