Sunday, 9 January 2011 Original Takeuchi Seiho (1864 - 1942) Japanese Woodblock Print Pears and Verse, about 1938 - 1940 Comments - Simple Zen painting design of two pears outlined in brushy strokes, with a verse in calligraphy along the right. This design was published by Unsodo in Kyoto between 1938 and 1940. The blocks were moved to Tokyo and destroyed by bombing during WWII, so very few prints of this pre-war design exist. Artist - Takeuchi Seiho (1864 - 1942) Image Size - 14 3/8" x 18 3/4" Condition - With excellent color and detail. A few offsetting marks in subject. Crease at upper left.
