Monday, 23 May 2011 Title Nigatsu-do Temple and Deer provenance: Uchida Family Archives Artist Nisaburo Ito 1910-1988 Dated Ca. 1930 - 40s. Publisher Uchida. Medium/Technique Watercolors and sumi on silk. Colors Excellent. Condition Excellent - Very good... Top edge is pasted on the presentation folder. Slightly soiled. Description A watercolor painting on silk of Ni-gatsu-do temple, small torii and deer in a snowy day. This design was later published as a woodblock print. It has been kept in the famous publisher in Kyoto, The Uchida, archives. Note Uchida Han is an important Japanese publishing company with branches in both Tokyo and Kyoto.
