Catalog note / 解説

Monday, 7 November 2005 Camellias by Rakuzan Tsuchiya Stunning woodblock of a branch of camellia flowers and buds. The lush beauty of the flowers and the sensual realism of the leaves combine into a vibrant design. Rakuzan is noted for the attention he paid to detail in his woodblocks. His designs used subtly colored inks, layered by the use of many woodblocks, to make just one print. For instance, the underside of each leaf is shaded in at least three differed colors and the spines of the leaf are shaded in two colors to give a three-dimensional look. Rakuzan's most famous series is one of birds and flowers. Comes with a certificate of authenticity Artist: Tsuchiya, Rakuzan (1886-??) Size:…
