Monday, 7 November 2005 Lobster by Rakuzan Tsuchiya Gorgeous woodblock of a lobster and clam shells. This print is amazing to see in person. Rakuzan used his own superlative techniques to give a complete illusion of three-dimensionality to the lobster. A variety of highlights, shadings, and color variations foster this illusion. The clamshells are also highlighted and shaded in this fashion. The beautiful arraignment of clamshells enhances the perfection of the design. Rakuzan is noted for the attention he paid to detail in his woodblocks.
