Catalog note / 解説
Fancy golden pheasant on the black background. Jakuchu was famous for his very imaginative and decorative depiction of birds and flowers. He was said to have reared domestic fowls so that he could observe them. The artist signed himself as "Tobei-an" since he used to ask people for " One To of Rice" as the payment for his picture.
