寸法: 縦157.2cm:横160.8cm 員数: 2曲1隻 所蔵: 京都国立博物館 Kyoto National Museum 江戸時代中期の京都の画人たちが、流派を問わず、金箔や銀箔の効果的な使用法を探索していたことは知られているが、円山応挙（1733―1795）もまたその1人である。本図は、2頭の鹿が描かれているのみで、背景はすべて金箔で埋め尽くされている。鹿は応挙得意の写生技法が徹底的に駆使されており、宗達・光琳以来の装飾性と緻密な写生が見事に融合した作品である。
