Japanese Woodblock by Okumura ‘Cherry Blossoms at Heian Shrine” Authentic Showa era woodblock by Japanese artist Koichi OKUMURA (1904-74), who was active during the 1940’s and 50’s, published by Unsodo Publisher of Tokyo. Scene is titled “Cherry Blossoms, Heian Shrine” and is likely from his “Twelve Views of Kyoto” series published in 1948. A later printing, likely circa 1980’s/90’s. The printing quality and details are quite nice?printed on nice, thick hand-made Japanese paper. Well done “bokashi” (gradation of color) shading to the sky, and foreground; and nicely carved details.
