Catalog note / 解説

From the series "Showa Dai-Tokyo Hyaku Zue Hanga" (One Hundred Views of Great Tokyo in Showa Period). No. 92. The inside of Gokokuji Temple compound in Koishikawa. The series depicted the new land marks and people's lives in Tokyo after the devastating Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923. It was started in 1928 and finished 12 years later. The prints in this large series were published with slightly different series titles. However, all the prints which have Kishio's handwritten signatures and the print number and monthly dates were made by the artist in his life time.
