Catalog note / 解説
"Narihira Toka Zu" (Picture of Narihira Traveling to the East ). From the series, "Kokka" (The Flowers of the Nation) published in Meiji era, which introduced old masterpieces of Japanese art. The albums included some of the most skillfully and elaborately produced woodblock prints to date. Here, the famed poet, Narihira is on horse traveling to Edo. The original painting was in the collection of the IWASAKI family who was the founder of Mitsubishi Conglomerate in Meiji era.
