Information about the latest fashions were shared through paintings and prints. This print, with a woman dressing before a hanging scroll, suggests how such images might act as a model. With her hair already elaborately styled, the woman is adjusting her layers of kimono. On her right are waist sashes (<i>obi</i>). On the floor beside her are <i>kaishi</i> papers, the equivalent of modern tissues, which would be carried tucked into the front of the kimono. Materials: Woodblock print on paper
