Origin: Japan, Age/Period: ca.1900, Meiji, Dimensions: 13-1/4" long, 7-5/8" wide; A fine small watercolor painting by K. Seki, ca.1900. The painting depicts a misty morning scene of Mt. Fuji from the banks of a placid lake. The soft-focus brush technique was very well handled. The colors are strong and bright, yet muted and sublime. This is clearly painted by the hands and eyes of a skilled artist. The painting is framed in a period hardwood frame, possibly the original hardwood frame. In our humble opinion, if this painting were matted and re-framed in a larger and more appropriate format, it would look spectacular. Please inquire if interested in matting and framing options.
