"Shakko". A dancer is performing lion dance in the noh play, "Shakko". O-e Hiromoto (1148-1225), one of the legendary warrior in Japan, was converted to Buddhism and became a priest. He went to China to practice the austerities. One day he was crossing a bridge. He was visited by the spirit of a lion which suddenly appeared from blooming peonies and performed a beautiful dance. This scene was dramatized in the Noh play "Shakkyo" (Stone Bridge).
