'Street lamp by a bridge' Painted by M.Matsu in c1920s/30s A wonderfully evocative and beguiling painting, I think it is night turning into day with hope conveyed though subtle use of colour, we are leaving the dense, dark glade in the backround behind and heralding the dawn in the foreground with shades of peach and delightful delicate blossom. The street lamp will go off at any second and one feels an early morning jogger might appear at any moment.
