Catalog note / 解説
From the Sosaku Hanga club magazine, "Kitsutsuki". The name means 'Woodpecker', metaphorical for a woodblock print artist chiseling wood little by little. Vol. 2. Back alley at Ginza. The lantern advertises for "Azuma Odori" (Tokyo Dance). Kanenori Suwa wrote about the print, "This is left-over Ginza. The residence of a traditional dancer in Shinbashi district. One can hear the sound of "koto" instead of Jazz music of the modern Ginza".
