Catalog note / 解説
From the series, "Taisho Shin Kasai Mokuhanga-shu" which depicted the scenery of Tokyo right after the Great Kanto Earthquake (Sept.1, 1923) which killed ca. 140,000 people and devastated most of Tokyo by fire. Here, the charred electrical wires in front of the Kannon Temple in Asakusa were depicted. The building and the tower remained unburned. However, the tower was destroyed later in 1945. This print still has the original title in Japanese attached on the back.
