Sunday, 17 April 2005 This is a genuine original shin hanga Japanese woodblock print by Pieter Irwin Brown published circa 1930's. The images is either a Chinese or Korean scene, I am leaning toward Chinese. There is great detail in the mules or burros, and in the rider. The bokashi was very well executed in the color graduation present in the hills. The print is pencil signed by the artist in the upper right corner in the image. I have not been able to find this image in any of the reference material concerning Pieter Irwin Brown. The print is in very good condition. Excellent impression, very good color, very good registration and very good bleedthrough. No foxing, toning, folds or crease…
