Catalog note / 解説

This lithograph is interesting because the artist and publisher is none-other than Tanaka Ryozo - owner of Shobido. Koitsu scholars will remember that Shobido published many prints by Koitsu in the mid to late 1930s. It's surprising to see Shobido publishing prints at such an early date. The Japanese text reads \"In fighting back the enemy which attacked from the left wing, our army in Manchuria bravely defeated it and gave serious damages to the enemy. I (Meiji Emperor) was profoundly pleased by the remarkable achievements of all the officers and soldiers who painfully campaigned in this battle.\" This item is from my personal collection and is not for sale.
