Tuesday, 13 January 2009 WATERCOLOUR LANDSCAPE FOREST INTERIOR SIGNED MATSUDA c1940s Charming superb quality watercolour study of a forest interior, a cabin or woodsman’s cottage beyond. Signed bottom right Matsuda but without a traditional ink impression we would expect from Japanese artists. Our research draws us to Fumiko Matsuda and our paperwork for this painting also indicates the artist, purchased from a leading country market auction. Few Matsuda works come to auction and the artist’s work has matured in recently years.
