Catalog note / 解説
1916 FUGI NAKAMIZO SIGNED WATERCOLOR Fugi Nakamizo is better known for his etchings of wildlife. I think that his landscapes are so well-done with a spiritual quality that is undefinable. He was born in 1889 and died in 1950. This picture was painted when he was 27. Fugi was in a Japanese interment camp during WWII. This painting is so very beautiful with the mountain in the background and the Japanese junks on the lake and their reflections on the water and the shoreline. It measures 6 1/2 by 13 and is covered with tissue paper. It was bought at a missionary's estate sale with a lot of Nakamizo's works.
