"Sakuradu Gikyo Atagoyama shyu-seki no zu" The 18 members of Mito samurai group gathered at the shrine of Mt. Atago. They favored Tokugawa Shogunate to keep Japan from opening to the west. They waited Ii Naosuke who was the main advocate for opening Japan, and his procession coming out from the Sakurada-mon Gate of Chiyoda Castle. They assassinated him at the snow falling Sakurada Gate on the 3rd day of March, 1860.
