Catalog note / 解説
Original Japanese woodblock print by noted contemporary printmaker Kenji Seki. Now in his eighties, Seki was for decades the head printer for the shin hanga publishing firm Doi Hangaten What is less well known is that Seki was a fine designer and printmaker in his own right, combining modern technique with a very "shin hanga" aesthetic, resulting in some of the finest of contemporary Japanese woodblock prints. It would be easy to mistake this example for a Shufu Miyamoto print, as the rising mist is very evocative of Miyamoto's work. The printing, as you would expect, is first rate.
