Catalog note / 解説
Collection of 10 Meiji Period woodblock prints of Kabuki faces, and 2 fans. Actors in Noh drama wear solid masks, whereas Kabuki actors wear elaborate, melodramatic, makeup. The makeup for each face exhibits characteristics of the person being portrayed. Fans are also an integral part of Kabuki performances. This is a composition of 10 Kabuki faces that, like a traditional Japanese screen, portray various aspects of Kabuki performance.
