Kannon Reigen Ki" (The Stories about the Miracles by the Goddess Kannon) The 28th pilgrimage place, Nariai Temple in Tango province. Priest Saien was about to starve to death because he was trapped in his mountain monastery by a severe snow storm. He was still chanting the Buddhist sutra. One morning he found a frozen deer leg on the garden and could keep himself alive until the rescue finally came. (Priests were allowed to eat three kinds of meat).
