Catalog note / 解説
This relatively early <i>uchiwa-e</i> (rigid fan print) design by Hiroshige gives the names of six gardens in Edo alongside depictions of the plants for which they were famous. These are, clockwise from top right, wisteria at Kameido (Kameido Tenjin Shrine), bushclover at Hagidera (Ryuganji Temple), peonies at Tomigaoka (Tomigaoka Hachiman Shrine), irises at Kinegawa, plum blossoms at Hyakkaen and maples at Kaianji (Temple). Materials: Colour print from woodblocks
