Catalog note / 解説
Crepe print is a mechanically wrinkled print sold as a "curiosity" item. It was often used for children's books, also, because it was more resistant to tears and soil. This one depicted Kabuki actor, Bando Hikosaburo holding a traditional umbrella. He is in the role of the famed calligrapher who was enshrined as a god later, Ono Tofu.
