Catalog note / 解説
From the series of prints depicting Kabuki actors and thirty-six riddles and poems. This one compaired Onoe with elephant. It has something to do with the popular Kabuki play, Kagami-yama in which Onoe commited suicide because she was slapped by Iwafuji with her "zori" (Japanese sandal) and the Japanese word for elephant is "zo".
