Catalog note / 解説
Having broken into the mansion of Lord Ko no Morono, the elderly Horibe strikes off an enemy’s head. He wears the black and white outer coat for which the 47 loyal retainers have become famous. The letter chi of the Japanese hiragana syllabary ( in the yellow diamond, lower right ) is Horibe’s personal badge, each retainer having been given a different letter for identification. Materials: Woodblock print on paper
