Woodblock diptych print, oban tate-e. A scene from the kabuki play 'Nanso Satomi hakkenden'. The kabuki actor Sawamura Sanjuro V, who raises his arm in alarm at Inuyama Dosetsu Tadatomo (right) standing and performing a magical hand-gesture behind Arashi Kichizaburo as Tsunahoshi Sabojiro, who is seated and leaning back in alarm from Seki Sanjuro as Inukawa Shosuke (left) who is standing with a stern expression over the kneeling Onoe Kikujiro IV in the role of Mumatsu (?).
