In order to maintain secrecy and mislead the enemy, Oboshi Yuranosuke (standing) pretends to abandon the vendetta. He spends his time in Kioyto’s Gion pleasure district with the courtesan Okaru (right). As three colleagues look on, Yuranosuke orders Okaru’s brother Heiemon to carry off and execute an enemy spy who has read a secret letter. Materials: Woodblock print on paper
