Catalog note / 解説
"Giyu Hakkenden" (Courageous and Loyal Heroes of Hakkenden) Inumura Kakutaro, one of the eight dog-heroes of Hakkenden. They were called dog-heroes because they had "inu" (dog) in a part of their names. All of them were born with a precious marble in their hand and a birth marking which signify they were bounded by the fate. Many kabuki plays and spin-off novels were made after this very popular action-revenge story, "Nanso Satomi Hakkenden" (published in 1813-41) by Takizawa Bakin.
