Catalog note / 解説
Kintaro (or Kaidomaru) who was raised in Ashigara Mountains playing with monkeys and bears. He was bestowed unusual vigor and strength. One day, Minamoto Raiko (top right) and his men had a hunting excursion in the mountains and happened to see Kintaro and took the kid with him. Kintaro later became Sakata Kintoki, one of the famed Four Retainers of Raiko. Here, Kintoki threw a bear into a creek. His mother, Yamauba (legendary mountain woman) and friendly monkeys look on. One of Raiko's men, Genji Tsuna, sends cheers to Kintaro using his ogi-fan.
