Colour woodblock print, oban. The kabuki actor Bando Mitsugoro III as Ko no Moronao, standing in official costume ('daimon') with the courtier's cap ('eboshi'), and holding a court fan in one hand and a poetry slip ('tanzaku') in the other; in Act I, ‘The Prologue’ (‘Daijo’), of ‘Kanadehon Chushingura’ by Takeda Izumo II, Miyoshi Shoraku and Namiki Senryu performed at the Nakamura-za in the 4th month of 1814.
