Saturday, 20 March 2010 Original Kunisada II (1823 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print Courtesan with Crane Kimono Series; Comparison of Portraits of Beauties Courtesan with Crane Kimono - Terrific design of an elegant young courtesan wearing a beautiful dark blue kimono patterned with cranes, a lucky symbol in Japan. She holds a small lacquer caddy and a slender spoon as she looks ahead. A lovely portrait with rich, deep color.
