Triptych: The Koto Player Artist: Chikanobu Format: Oban triptych: each sheet: 14.75" x 10" Subject: A young woman plays the Koto for the entertainment of two Heian Courtiers. This design is unusual in Chikanobu's work, inasmuich as it he uses a sharp 'perspective' view of the bijin in the foregroud. Date: c.1880's Condition: Fine colors. Full size with large margins. A tiny wormhole at centre top on each sheet. Paper very slightly toned. Overall light creases, rubbing and wear. Very minor marks and flaws. Generally very good state of preservation. Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage and lacquer.
