Catalog note / 解説
"Azuma Nishiki Chuya Kurabe" (Edo Embroidery Pictures, Comparison of the Day and the Night). Fujiwara Ason Narimichi of the Heian Court was an excellent "kemari" (ancient football play done by aristocrats) player. He was practicing kemari under a large tree on which several monkeys were watching his practice. The legend said that he got the secret art of kemari from the monkeys.
