Catalog note / 解説
Ichikawa Danjürö V appears in the role of Watanabe-no-Kisoi Takiguchi (front) with Nakamura Nakazö II (back) acting as Kiyomori. Both wear kumadori makeup, an important element of Kabuki theater. The bold colors are meant to express facets of a character’s personality. The color red usually represents bravery, virtue or strength. (from Daring Moves Exhibition 8/1/06-)
