The actor Ötani Hiroji III appears in the role of the samurai, Sömatarö Yoshikado in the kaomise production, “Edo Katagi Hikeya Tsunasaka,” given at the Ichimura-za Theater in 1772. He holds a banner in one hand and his unsheathed sword in the other. Hiroji III was a very successful actor of aragoto (rough style) roles.
