Of those two genres, earlier generations of artists focused on the women of the pleasure quarters. With the advent of Suzuki Harunobu, developer of the nishiki-e full color print with its ability to reproduce detailed, realistic colors, artists began depicting the ordinary women of town. This print shows Osen, a famous young beauty who worked in a tea and drink shop at Edos
