Snow at Hinuma Swamp, Mito, 1947 Kawase Hasui (1883? 1957) Snow at Hinuma Swamp, Mito A single fisherman in the driving snow on a small strip of land. Some of Hasui’s best work is his atmospheric scenes of snow and rain that so captivated his followers. Here a rural outpost, void of the architecture of the urban scenes, captures the beauty of rural Japan. A simple color scheme, a subtle design- beautiful. Signed- Kawase Hasui with red artist’s seal “sui” Sealed- Publisher Watanabe, 7mm seal, later edition original, from original blocks Image size- 14 1/4” x 9 1/2” (oban yoke-e) Condition- Excellent, no toning, tears, not mounted, full margins.
